Suan Farang Kangsai Residential Hall (Paraphernalia of High Rank No. 1)

The construction of this house, a brick and mortar building with a hip roof, started in 1908 and was completed the following year. It was originally the residence of Princess Dara Rasmi, a royal consort of H.M. King Chulalongkorn.

It now houses an exhibition of oil paintings of members of the royal family and various royal paraphernalia, such as the Choomsai, an insignia of King which has a three tiered umbrella with fringe of silk threads, used in royal cremations or in court coronations, Royal Sedan chairs and the Grand Boot-Sa-Bok, or movable throne with four posts supporting a spire or roof for placing king’s urn.
